The agricultural and agro-processing sector in the Eastern Cape has grown significantly over the last 20 years. With this growth emerged the demand for an independent, customer-centric and technologically advanced cold store facility to support their specific requirements.
The sector was calling for cost-effective options to the distant ports of Durban and Cape Town, both of which have also presented both logistical and operational challenges for Eastern Cape customers.
A Fruit-Focused Facility
The new CCH facility in Greenbushes is ideally located in Gqeberha, and it’s just 15 minutes from both Coega and Port Elizabeth ports. The facility is specifically geared towards the fruit export industry, as well as handling frozen product.
Specialised Services
To satisfy the special requirements of the fruit sector, this new state-of-the-art, multi-temperature distribution facility offers steri and force cooling capabilities, together with systems to ensure necessary traceability.
Prepared for Outages
Our 15 000 square metres of pristine cold storage space has a high-end solar installation and two generators for loadshedding concerns. There is also a container depot with 200 plug-in points planned for the near future.
About CCH
CCH was recently listed by the Global Cold Chain Alliance as one of the 25 largest refrigerated warehousing and logistics providers in the world. This is a huge achievement for an African-based operation.
CCH Greenbushes is proud to champion our group vision of increasing food security throughout Africa by growing and strengthening the cold chain.
